MORENO VALLEY CA - Off of Day Street and Ironwood in Moreno Valley, you will find France House of Crepes.

Black and white tiles grace the floors and an array of bright colors and posters of scenes from Paris and cafe life add to the allure. A large poster of the Eiffel Tower can be seen next to the coffee bar in the back. A fenced-in outside patio with umbrellas and picnic tables is also available for alfresco dining.

The French onion soup at France House of Crepes is a classic rendition of richly flavored broth chock full of slivers of sweet onions and topped by a floating baguette toast topped with melted Gruyere and mozzarella cheese.
This is the place for both sweet and savory crepes, which are absolutely delicious. The striking flavors will take those of you who have visited France back to the shores of Brittany and the arrondissements of the City of Light. The strains of French love songs waft through the air to enhance the ambiance.

Begin with one of the finest French onion soups I’ve encountered — intensely flavored broth with sweet onion strands and a large baguette toast topped with melted Gruyere cheese floating like an island in the middle of the bowl. This was a beautifully done rendition that provides a standard for all other French cafes to emulate. From the savory crepe section, the L’France was superb. The crepes are large with a hint of sweetness in the batter and chock full of
ingredients.

The L’France contained plump large shrimp, sauteed red bell peppers, onions, parmesan and mozzarella cheeses in a white wine cream sauce — a cacophony of complimentary flavors that will make your taste buds sing.

The curried chicken version allows you to substitute ham or turkey. We opted for the turkey version which has the meat cut into thin ribbon-like slivers from a turkey breast. The meat tends to get lost in the mix and it would probably work better as cubed pieces, but the overall flavor profile was a raging success with a blend of parmesan, mushrooms, tomato, onions and sweet green bell peppers in a satiny curry cream sauce with a touch of heat.

A slice of baguette would be great as an accompaniment to soak up every last drop of the addictive sauce. The cappuccino/lattes are some of the prettiest around with intricate chocolate designs on the surface of the foam, which help to defray the bitterness of the strong espresso grind. Don’t miss ordering a dessert crepe to go along with your coffee, especially the Royalty which is filled with a hazelnut/cocoa spread, juicy strawberry and banana slices and dark chocolate topped with chocolate sprinkles and served with a dollop of sinfully delicious Chantilly cream.

Crepes are freshly made for each dish and can’t be rushed. During the week before 5 p.m. there’s only one cook in the kitchen and one server, so food may be a bit slow coming out to the table. On weekends and every evening after 5 p.m., there are always two cooks and two servers. ~
